Partners
The partners are the structural actors responsible for identifying gaps and opportunities, scientific and development strategies, empowering the transformative actors and actions, and establishing the regional and global networks. Partners are co-responsible for the successful implementation of the programme, including the preparation and follow up of action calls.
Partnership is open to different types of organizations such as research institutes or networks (i.e. IMBER), city networks (i.e. MedCities), City Councils (i.e. Barcelona City Council). The partnership will progressively scale up in time by incorporating the following: (a) other regional or global city networks; (b) more marine research institutions committed with sustainable development; (c) city councils in those towns and cities where these research institutions are located or hold activities; and (d) local and national harbour authorities.
The Steering Committee is responsible for the operational aspects of the implementation of OC-NET, and has the decision-making competence for relevant decisions. The Steering Committee is also responsible for ensuring that there is a proper flux of information with both the UN Decade Central Coordination and the UN Decade Collaboration Centers.
The Steering Committee is composed by two representatives of the coordinating institution, the regional secretariats (8), and one representative for each working group (6). The director of the steering committee will be selected during the first semester among all representatives in the steering committee. The steering committee will be responsible for setting the proper flux of information with the UN Decade Central Coordination and the UN Decade Collaboration Centers.
