October 15 Walking Ethnography La Barceloneta and the Sea: A Journey Through Its Memories Critical route through La Barceloneta exploring projects and spaces that have built community around the sea, Dockworkers’ Union, the Market, Club PatiVela, and Somorrostro Beach. October 22 Knowledge Workshop The Benefits of Local Consumption: The Value Chain of Fish Products Discover the secrets of the Barcelona fish market and why consuming local fish improves health, supports the values of La Barceloneta, and enhances Mediterranean sustainability. Participate in this experiential knowledge workshop where, in addition to attending a live fish auction, you can speak with experts from scientific, educational, economic, and social sectors involved in local fishing and responsible consumption. After an exclusive guided visit to the fish market, we will explore the importance of traceability, sustainability, quality, and the benefits of local fish products. October 29 Knowledge Workshop Among Nets: Fishing and Neighborhood Stories in La Barceloneta Workshop narrating the history of the neighborhood linked to the sea from an environmental justice perspective. Topics include tensions between traditional knowledge, scientific knowledge, and food; explanation of “forgotten fish,” traditional and migrant recipes; environmental conflicts and struggles over territory in La Barceloneta.
