These regions face challenges such as rising sea levels, extreme heat events, unsustainable territories, and prolonged droughts. These factors are compounded by human activities such as mass tourism and the loss of coastal biodiversity, making coastal urban areas highly vulnerable.

For this reason, marine conservationist Tundi Agardy, founder of Sound Seas, and Júlia López Ventura, European director of C40 Cities, will participate in a talk to reflect on the importance of preserving coastal regions on a global scale. The conversation will be moderated by Valenti Sallarés, director of the Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC), who coordinates UNESCO’s Ocean Cities Network program.

Date and Time

September 9, 2024

18:30-20:00

Reserve your tickets here: https://www.cccb.org/en/activities/file/tundi-agardy-and-julia-lopez/245469

As part of the debate series “Cities and Sea,” a discussion titled “The Sea: A Global Common Good” will be held at the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona.
